HOLLYWOOD checks out its spiritual side
By Victorya Michaels Rogers

An increasing number of spiritual support groups are open for Christians in the entertainment industry. Whether or not the terrorist attacks of 9-11, 2001 played a role in drawing America closer to God, certainly professionals in Hollywood are spending more time praying and pursuing their spiritual life. And established ministries with long track records are drawing their largest crowds in years. Their missions vary, but their common thread is to offer spiritual guidance and emotional support in an industry filled with rejection, dissolution, competition and temptation.

Whether you’re a writer, producer, director, actor, agent, lawyer or technical crew, there is a group out there to encourage you spiritually and in your career.

Following is the latest list of ministries.

HOLLYWOOD PRAYER NETWORK:
PRAYING FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
BY FOUNDER KAREN COVELL

The Hollywood Prayer Network (HPN) is a grass roots prayer ministry for entertainment professionals, and by professionals, in Hollywood. We are seeking God to free the hearts and minds of individuals by mobilizing global prayer for the world's most influential mission field: The Entertainment Industry. As a defined group of over 3,000 strong, the Christians working in this mission field are growing as a community and experiencing God's presence here more than ever before. For, "where sin abounds, so does grace abound all the more."

Since it's beginnings in July, 2001, we are joining together a growing list of churches, para-church organizations and individuals across America to commit to pray for all aspects of the entertainment industry, including film, television, music and the news media. The Hollywood Prayer Network sends out monthly prayer requests, updates, praises and news breaks to all of our prayer partners by email or mail. Working together, we will be a part of seeing God transform Hollywood. Won't you join us in praying for Hollywood? For more information see Hollywood Prayer Network above.

HOPE FOR POST 9-11 HOLLYWOOD
By KAREN COVELL

January 2002 was a miraculous month for Hollywood, as the author of the #1 best seller The Prayer of Jabez came to offer hope and direction to Hollywood in the aftermath of the September tragedies. Hundreds of entertainment professionals came to hear how to find blessings in their career and personal lives.

Bruce Wilkinson, whose little book has sold over 9 MILLION copies, spoke on Friday, January 25th at the Writers Guild of America Theatre in Beverly Hills. In attendance were nearly 500 media professionals; many of whom never heard before about our loving and personal God who wants to bless us. Over 200 stayed after just to hear more about God. Then on Saturday the 26th over 600 Christians came to hear Bruce speak on his 2nd best seller The Secrets of the Vine. That morning over 175 Christians recommitted their lives to live as missionaries in the entertainment industry. It was a week-end of spiritual breakthrough for everyone involved - including Bruce, who has since resigned from Walk Thru the Bible and is moving to Hollywood to reach the world through the media. God is moving in massive proportions in Hollywood.

CALLING FOR STORIES: DO YOU HAVE A MIRACULOUS MARRIAGE?

Victorya Rogers, Karen and Jim Covell, co-authors of The Day I Met God, are in the midst of writing their follow-up to the 2001 release. And this time it's about God’s miraculous intervention in marriage! It's a compilation of true stories about couples whose marriages would not have made it had they not asked or allowed God to intervene and save their relationship. If you have a story like that or if you know a couple who does, please let us know. We are currently accepting true stories and want every variety of MIRACULOUS MARRIAGE stories that we can find so that we have a powerful collection to choose from for our book. It would be an honor to have you contact us so that your story of victory can encourage or even help salvage other marriages today who may otherwise not see any hope. Please contact us by email at nofreakingout@aol.com or by mail at No Freaking Out, P.O. Box 433, North Hollywood, CA 91603. For more information on the format, read the incredible stories in The Day I Met God. Thanks so much for prayerfully considering being part of our next book.
